Things to Do in Waco, TX

Whether you’re a local looking for new things to do, interesting museums, or stopping through Waco to see our vast new vehicle inventory, the team here at Greg May Hyundai can suggest fun things to do while you’re here in Waco. We are happy to share a few favorites of our own here in the greater Hillsboro area.

Magnolia Market

If you watch HGTV’s Fixer Upper television series, you are familiar with the show’s stars Chip and Joanna Gaines. These two Texans own the Magnolia Market, a two-block shopping complex right here in Waco. You’ll see it on your way in because of its two huge, historical silos marking the complex. Stop in to shop home decor, visit the bakery, and more.

Mammoth National Monument

Waco is also home to the famous and mysterious site preserving bones of giant extinct animals at Mammoth National Monument. Just $5.00 for adults, and $3.00 for children, you can spend a couple hours or a whole day learning and exploring the fascinating life and death of the Wooly Mammoth. It’s curated in part with the National Park Service, so you can also use a parks pass here.

Texas Sports Hall of Fame

From high school athletic feats to internationally renowned professional stars, you can awe at all-things-Texas sports if you’re looking for something active to do in Waco, TX. With interactive sports installations for kids, to retired jerseys and signed balls from pros, there’s an ample collection to celebrate the sporting legends of Texas at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

Cameron Park Zoo

Unplug the video games, leave the phones in the car, and connect with the spirit of adventure at Waco’s 52-acre Natural Habitat Cameron Park Zoo, right along the Brazos River. This may be a smaller zoo overall, but it’s home to lots of big animals for your family to observe and learn from. From orangutans, to lions and Komodo dragons, you’ll get nose-to-nose with these exotic creatures.

The Official Texas Ranger Hall of Fame

Not too far from the Cameron Park Zoo and also along the banks of the Brazos River sits another Waco, TX attraction, The Official Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. Discover the history of the Texas Ranger and their important role in shaping the American West. Explore art, artifacts, inductee stories, and a gift shop at this attraction.
