Performance Specs, Hybrid Fuel Economy Scores and New Technology

Hyundai has included three power plant options for people interested in the 2021 Elantra. The SE, SEL and Limited models will be outfitted with a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, inline four-cylinder engine that will make 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. Potential owners looking to maximize the available performance output from their 2021 Elantra purchase or lease will want to inquire about the new N Line with its turbocharged 1.6-liter, inline four-cylinder engine that will produce 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.  


The new SEL HEV and Limited HEV trims will use a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter, Atkinson Cycle inline four-cylinder engine. When the gas engine and electric hybrid system motors are working together, it will make 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. While these models might sacrifice a small amount of performance, it will more than make up for that in fuel economy scores. According to Hyundai estimates, the SEL HEV model will record up to 53 miles per gallon in the city and 56 miles per gallon on the highway. The Limited HEV can post 49 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway.
